Deleted Comments, Silent Prosecutors, and the Church–Parker Scandal: Webster Parish Deserves an Outside Investigation

The controversy surrounding Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker is no longer just about deleted Facebook comments. It is about public trust, equal justice, and whether elected officials are being protected from the same accountability ordinary citizens face every day. According to screenshots and information reviewed for this story, comments questioning Sheriff Parker and the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office appear to have been deleted or hidden from an official government Facebook page. If true, that raises serious First Amendment concerns, especially when those comments challenged official statements or asked questions connected to the Church–Parker scandal. The concern does not stop with the sheriff’s office. Complaints were reportedly filed with local police against two separate elected officials, yet the District Attorney allegedly refused to file charges. A confirmed report from a police chief further claims the DA will not charge elected officials during an election year because of concern over upsetting the public. That should alarm every citizen in Webster Parish. A justice system cannot work one way for ordinary people and another way for elected officials. The public deserves preserved records, released Facebook moderation logs, and an outside investigation with no political interest in protecting the local power structure.
